From the ground up… Together into the forest of the future.

Climate change and the biodiversity crisis bring us on the planet the greatest challenge that humanity has imposed on itself. Even if this year’s summer does not continue the series of drought summers in our country, most trees lack water, especially from the depths.
Bark beetles are flying and feeding as in previous years. In Upper Franconia, many forests have gaps that are growing larger. If the drought sets in er-neut, this happens all the faster. New plantings are needed with new trees that can cope with the new conditions.
Forest owners plant these new trees. If the drought comes again, many young plants will not succeed, because the sun dries everything. This will happen again.  If the forest owner already has no use for the forest, how long will he replace his failed plants?

Can someone please help here?

The idea is that even in Corona times the forest owners, but also all of us, are helped by small groups that plant missing trees or replace failed ones with new plantings. These small groups are led by the so-called plant scouts. They are trained in planting, they establish the connection to the forest owner and the responsible forester.

Plant Scouts do not fall from the sky.

Plant Scouts are volunteers who have been trained for this task. This is done by forest lovers and foresters, who also teach the connection with climate change and the biodiversity crisis.

Looking at the big picture…

We are approaching times in which our forests are constantly more in danger. It is not only about forest ownership, but about all the meanings of the forest. It is about the nature of the forest with the animal community, its water balance, its climatic effect and about the other demands of the people, e.g. for recreation, sports, who enjoy it and thus have their general benefit from it.

If someone helps …
Then you help yourself, the forest owner and everyone else, especially your children and your children’s children, in these will carry a burden of which we have no idea yet. So the sooner we start to protect our forests, the easier we can face the climate crisis, each in his own place. When if not now, who if not me?
